I just came across this cool video by Russell Stannard in London via twitter, about Bookr, a free photobook maker.

It’s a low effort high impact way to create a photobook that’s perfect for celebrating an event, a special place or even something as specific as Dalmatians using pictures from flickr.

All you need to do is enter a key word, drag and drop the pictures you want and then enter some text! It’s as easy as that.

Here are some ideas for how you can use it to celebrate special occasions, especially when you can’t be there in person:

1. A comfort book: To make a comfort book for someone who’s recently lost a loved one. You could find some beautiful images of nature (stars, mountains, trees and butterflies) and place some motivational quotes. I once made a book (using Flash) for someone who had lost their baby and she told me how much it helped her and how much she appreciated it.

2. Graduation Book - We can’t often be present at the graduation ceremonies of our friends or family members. This would be a quick and easy way to make a book for them. Search for images of scrolls, caps and gowns..etc. Add some wishes from family members on each page to complete.

3. Birthday Celebration - If you can’t be with your loved one on their birthday or some other special occassion, a photobook with images and quotes that evoke happy memories for both of you will still show you care.
